Donate Your Time and Skills to Lions Bear Lake Camp
Nestled within 120 acres of pristine nature, Lions Bear Lake Camp has been a haven for over 10,000 campers and visitors since its inception in July 2000. Our mission—to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and provide premier outdoor educational and recreational experiences for all—would not be possible without the unwavering support of Lions, Leos, foundation grants, and individual donors throughout Michigan.
One of the most remarkable ways our community comes together in service is through the annual Workbee, a tradition that showcases the spirit of teamwork, giving back, and volunteerism. We invite you to learn more about how you can make a difference by donating your time and skills at Lions Bear Lake Camp.
What is Lions Bear Lake Camp Workbee?
The Lions Bear Lake Camp Workbee is a collaborative event that brings together volunteers from all walks of life—Lions, Leos, service groups, and individuals—united by a common purpose. Scheduled for May 10th, 2025, this day of service is dedicated to enhancing the camp’s facilities, making it a welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone, regardless of ability.
During the Workbee, volunteers take on a variety of projects, such as maintaining nature trails, renovating cabins, painting, and landscaping. Every task, no matter how small, contributes to ensuring that the camp continues to thrive as a safe and accessible space for all. The collective energy poured into the Workbee embodies the sense of community and shared responsibility that makes Lions Bear Lake Camp a unique and cherished place.
Purpose and Impact
The Workbee serves two main purposes: to maintain the camp’s infrastructure and to foster a sense of community among volunteers. By dedicating your time and skills to this event, you’ll not only help us preserve the camp’s natural beauty and ensure its facilities are in top shape, but you’ll also become part of a long-standing tradition of giving back.
Your efforts during the Workbee will directly impact the experiences of future campers and visitors, helping us continue our mission of providing exceptional outdoor experiences. Whether it’s clearing trails, fixing cabins, or beautifying common areas, your contribution makes a tangible difference.
Volunteering Beyond the Workbee
While the annual Workbee is a significant event, there are numerous opportunities to volunteer throughout the year at Lions Bear Lake Camp. We always need help with a variety of tasks, from cleaning trails to assisting in the kitchen, and we welcome individuals who want to contribute their special skills.
- Trail Maintenance: If you enjoy spending time outdoors, consider helping us keep our beautiful trails clean and safe for campers. Trail maintenance is a year-round need, and even a few hours can make a big impact.
- Special Skills: Do you have carpentry skills, plumbing expertise, or a knack for repairs? Lions Bear Lake Camp is always looking for volunteers with specialized talents to help with ongoing projects and improvements.
- Kitchen Assistance: If you enjoy cooking or food preparation, volunteering in our kitchen could be a perfect fit. Help us prepare meals for campers and guests, ensuring they have the nourishment they need to enjoy their time at camp.
By donating your time and skills to Lions Bear Lake Camp, you’ll be joining a community of passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference. Whether you participate in our annual Workbee or volunteer throughout the year, your contribution will leave a lasting impact on the camp and the lives of those who visit.

Partners with organizations to provide camperships
This is an opportunity for students to apply for funding (up to $250) to attend a summer camp in Michigan. These camperships are open to students with an IEP, in need of financial support, and would otherwise not have an opportunity for a summer camp experience. This scholarship funding is made possible thanks to a collaboration with the Family Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (Family Center).
